This is my theory: During Arkham Knight when Scarecrow unleashes the toxin with the cloudburst, it’s shown clearly in the cutscene that all the thugs in the street are covered in it. Now Batman also gets dosed with the toxin in this game, resulting in him seeing Joker. This is because Batman’s fear is himself turning into Joker. Joe Chill was created by Batman creators Bob Kane and Bill Finger, first appearing in Detective Comics #33. Chill is commonly shown as a low-level thug or hitman in his various appearances and incarnations throughout DC continuity. I hated Batman in Under The Red Hood for refusing to kill the Joker in fear of becoming a tyrant, but he realized "Hey, maybe that's not so sound logic." and saved plenty of lives. crono09 • 3 yr. ago. One thing to bear in mind is that Batman himself is not mentally well. The murder of his parents affected him immensely, and he has never gotten over that trauma. As a result, he experiences emotions and attachments in a way that isn't healthy--much like the Joker himself.
