These earpads are visibly thicker and bigger, which should also reduce the clamp pressure for increase comfort. In the following we analyze the Yaxi earpads for sound, comfort, and optical appeal. The Yaxi earpads fit our Koss Porta Pro, Koss KSC75, and the Sennheiser PX 200 and 100-II. They also fit the KPH30i.
Wish these were for US and only with the clips. Already have two sets of Koss Porta Pros. Edit: Clips for KPH30i would be great also. Edit edit: Just some feedback, you should look into offering an "upgraded" set that come with YAXI earpads for the Porta Pro, mucho more comfortable IMO.
11. My brother just got a pair of KTXPro-1s. They use the same driver as the Porta Pro so I just did a quick comparison and here's the results: The PortaPro is more comfortable but asthetics are a tossup. The PortaPro is more nasally in the mids and a less boomy bass, but the KTXPro-1 is less refined in the high end and has some sort of It doesn’t have the best soundstage or resolution. But what the Porta Pro excels at is being an almost unbelievably good-enough jack-of-all-trades. The new Porta Pro Wireless sounds just the same as its predecessors that Koss made 34 years ago. Check Price: Koss Porta Pro Wireless. Full disclosure: I still drive an old sports car made in 1984

They're still noticeably more bassy than the 30i, there's a slight reduction but the bass/mid balance doesn't seem significantly altered (which lines up with oratory's yaxi'd porta pro graphs). The biggest improvements are in soundstage and separation, they don't sound as compressed and congested any more, which is definitely a positive.

I mean worth it to mean sounds like cost to performance, and their performance far outweights their price. Nowadays you can get some very solid IEMs for even cheaper but Koss is still objectively good value. It won't compete with most higher end stuff, but it's a nice little thing to have. 3. Imo the kph40 is more similar in signature and bass response while also bringing the airy treble of the ksc75. It's the best of both worlds and my fav atm but nonetheless they're all amazing especially for their price! 16 votes, 13 comments. 306K subscribers in the HeadphoneAdvice community.

after this mod, the deep sea sound has drifted towards the shore, and the murky sonic haze has been lifted. the name reflects this, as well as the fact that the pads look big and dumb on the porta pros, which i think is awesome. step 1: remove the stock foam pads, and find any foam material that is thinner and more porous than stock, and glue
for the express headband i too find it too costly to buy in europe, funny thing that i am in the same process for the ksc75 and apparently there's a Hamas headband on Amazon that fits a swell but looses the swivel ability compared to the parts express one, costs around 6 euro. the headband is waiting for me as it just got delivered , i will The KPH40 have been very kindly sent to me by Koss, along with the KEB90 and the utility cables. Today's review is going to focus on the KPH40, both with and without the utility cable, and I will mention the IEMs in another independent review. Koss have not requested anything specific, not even that I publish links.

Placed an order for the Koss Porta Pro Utility as KPH40 was unavailable. Had to place the order in the US Amazon store as the product was not available in Mexico. Including shipping and customs, cost was around 100USD with additional utility lightning connector. Shipping took a few days. Finally reached. 2). I'm going to get the Koss Porta Pro with Yaxi pads. I've heard things about the differences of dollar store headphone and how the more expensive ones are like night and days, and I think I'm ready to spare some money for a budget entry-level headphone to blow me away once again.

The only way to know with 100% certainty is to order directly from Koss. From the million other threads I've seen over the last 10 years fakes may have: no sticker on the end of the AUX jack. stiffer cable. '4' imprinted on the inside of the plastic ear adjustment instead of a '1'. 68ohm impedance. Original is 60ohm.
I've tried some headphones XM2, DT550, K371-BT, various in-ears (sony, degauss), but always fall back to my Koss Porta Pro Wireless.
Yeah, idk, found a youtuber that did FR graphs of them and it looks exactly the same as the Porta Pro. KPH40's have a wider soundstage and image better than Porta Pros though, so must be the difference in clamp force. But then you'd think less clamp force would reduce bass a little. KPH30i graph doesn't look that much different.

Thanks for pointing this out. Had been looking for an in line mic Porta Pro, because apparently a KSC75, Porta Pro, Porta Pro Wireless, KTX Pro 1, and KPH30i weren't enough already. Oh and did I mention I also already own 3 Parts Express headbands and 2 pairs of black Yaxi pads!? Also the Yaxi pads are amazingly cheap on Amazon.

Very similar on the test fixture and very likely the same drivers. In practice, however, the KPH30i has bigger and differently shaped ear pads and rests on the ears. This may be creating a better seal/coupling to you. The PortaPro rests on the temples (just above the ears) and less so on the ears. .
